About The Artist
I was born in 1965 in Vilnius, Lithuania. Since the 7th grade, art was one of my specialties and I have loved art ever since. By the 8th grade I was attending art school and graduated top of my class. After graduating high school, I attended the V. Muchina Academy of Applied Arts University on St. Petersburg, Russia. There I studied realistic drawing and painting from 1983-1984. While living in St. Petersburg, Russia I experienced many famous artists work and it helped me to make my paintings what they are today. I visited many well known museums such as the Hermitage Museum of Art and I knew that being an artist was what I wanted to do.
St. Petersburg, Russia was also a special place for me because I met my husband there. My husband, Juozas Saladitis and I were studying art at the same University together and that was how we met. He is a ceramics artist and is well known for his work in Europe and the US. In 1984 we were married in Lithuania and decided to continue our studies there.
From 1984 to 1989 I was being trained to be an instructor at Siauliai Pedagogical University in Siauliai, Lithuania. During that time I competed in many art competitions and student art shows. With my high grades I was very successful in my shows and competitions. I received my Masters of Art degree from Siauliai Pedagogical University in 1989.
After we graduated, my husband and I started exhibiting and selling our art work in eastern and western Europe. In 1991 we opened our own art studio "Ugne" (translated as goddess of fire) and we were one of the first private business owners to establish our own business after the Soviet Union collapsed. We specialized in decorative ceramics and paintings.
In 1994 with our two children we moved to the United States and settled in Chicago, IL and later in St. Petersburg, FL. We continued to create and sell our art work in galleries as well as art festivals. Today I am based on painting, I do my work in my studio and display my art in our studio show room in St. Petersburg, FL. My oil and acrylic paintings represent my love for color and the world around me. I feel that every artist dips his brush in his soul and paints his own nature into his paintings.
